“Mom, I’m an artist now!” are words my student used to show her mom the work she did today. We used her name to create a “Stained Glass Name” using Oil Pastels on paper. She picked out the colors and then applied them to the paper, all the way to the edges.
She practiced blending color and combining primary and secondary colors to get another one. We then bordered the work with black and "leaded" the letters of her name. (Remember that she's 5 years old with a short attention span.) I did help her with some of the work... but overall she learned the techniques and the skills of blending.
