Giraffes
I have been learning recently just how important it is to KEEP learning. So, I enrolled in a 2 part lecture & drawing course at the Getty Center and Los Angeles Zoo. I can honestly say I am a better artist and I now approach drawing animals in a very different manner... that is, I actually may start producing animals that look... like animals. Of course, Giraffe's had to be one of my first images. To accompany my vast collection of these magnificent creatures, I now have a personal affection for one of the large animals at the Zoo. Look how he gazes at me (okay, the camera)
Gerenuks
Drawing instructor, Peter Zokosky, introduced me to an incredibly exotic deer-like creature. These tall, slender animals are gracious and stand very still for photos and drawing opportunities. They stare as if to have a quiet conversations. I suspect that in their native environment they blend in with the tall grasses and become camouflaged with their surroundings.
