It's one thing to take your photographs and put them into a frame. It's another thing to take it to a big-box store and blow it up and put it on a commercial canvas. But what about the photo that is special, but is not quite light enough, or perhaps is too bright. Or someone has "photo-bombed" it and you just can't frame it the way you wanted...
My take on family favorites is this.... let me paint you a picture or a portrait to make that moment just right... Who? What? How?
Browse through these samples and then let's talk...
This is MAX... my parent's Australian Shepherd. He sat before me after a family dinner... so I took out my pencils and did this small sketch. I had never really spent much time drawing dogs and cats like I did with MAX.... This Measures about 4" x 6".
Portraits in Pencil: 4"x 6" = $45.00 / 8" x 10" = $ 60.00
So what happens when you take a picture at a zoo, like I did here, and there's the back of someone's head in the picture? Get creative with the cropping tools... yes... and well, as I am a giraffe lover it is still a cute face. Here's what I've done with it...
My plan is to take this sketch and create a series of Paper Journals, Stationary, and Note-cards with this image. If you have a cute photo of an an animal, a kid, a location, and would like a custom set... I will make special orders:
1 hand-painted card, with card-stock and envelope: $3.00
4 note-cards, hand-painted, with card-stock and envelopes: $10.00
Roses: Well it's no secret I love roses... so if you have a favorite style of rose, or an image of a rose, or whatever as a rose... Let me create something special for you... here are some roses I've drawn, painted, sketched, or photographed in the past...
Rose: Oil Pastel on Antique Paper - $50 / Unframed
"Morning Has Broken" = Acrylic on Canvas (SOLD)
"Sunflower" - Watercolor Pencil and Ink (Sold)
Maybe a moment like this will become a painting for your home...
"Portraits of Life" are a little more than a standard painting... they will be special and cherished.
Walking through a grove of trees, a way to capture a special place or moment in time. Let me take you back to that place.
A Cat in a Window "Le Chat en La Fenetre en Provence" was inspired by our Honeymoon in the South of France. On many a walk through a village, we would pass gardens, windows with shutters, and often cats sitting in those windows. Combining my memories, this painting was created.
I played around with this photograph of Palos Verdes... It gives me the starting point for a new painting using my palette knife!!!
As menitoned before.. I love roses... These are roses at my mothers... I sat and created pages and pages... and then cut the paintings to make book marks...
What a great way to share a little art with a book lover....
