A little love goes a long way

There's no arguing that life is busy, complex and chaotic.  Life is short and sweet, or long and hard depending on the day, the week, or the circumstances.  Nothing is guaranteed, and things are not always going to go as planned.

Our family has had a fair share of chaos over the past year, and it seems that everyone around me has also had similar hardships, surprises, and changes, for both better and worse.

Babies, Weddings, Vacations, Jobs, Funerals, Divorce, Moving States, Needing Housing, the list goes on and on.

One thing that keeps me going is my art, and being a creative outlet for others is a pleasure.  I tend to doodle and sketch when I'm not at the easel, and I'm happy to talk and share as I'm playing with paints outside when I'm doing PleinAir.

Hopefully a little bit of color will soften the stress of the chaos.

work in progress: BAA BAAA BAAAA... an Irish sheep with a black face. Details of eyes and some flowers in the grass still to come.

a little ladybird..  this is the first of a series or collection of miniature magnets.  These are acrylic and will vary on size from 1.5"  x 1.5', to 3" x 4".  What would you like to see?  Visit my Instagram page @SuzanneArtist and let me know what you'd like to see!

Route 66 / Centennial Year

2026 is the centennial year of the historic Route  66 which starts in Chicago and ventures west to California, ending at the Santa Monica Pier.  For me this is quite exciting as I've always wanted to explore this route, and to do so as an artist, taking my time, allowing myself to paint as some of the historic scenes inspire me.

In April I was in Chicago where I found the beginning outside the Art Institute, where the " Mother Road" meets Michigan Avenue.
Me standing across from the Art Institute where Route 66 begins.

In a few weeks I will embark on the main part of my journey with a Road Trip that will take me from California, through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas to Missouri.  I will be painting at various Route 66 locations along the way and after a week in Missouri I'll find my way to St. Louis before returning and visiting more locations on my way home.

Let me know if you want to come along on my Daily Painting Journey... I have a special invitation event to share this with you. Route 66 Journey with Suzanne

Let's paint and play together as we certainly need more smiles around here .

Please enjoy these flowers as another source of inspiration...

Artfully, Suzanne

Escalate Canyons PleinAir Festival

I have had a fabulous 10 days in Utah (Escalante Canyons PleinAir Art Festival) followed by a long wedding weekend in South Lake Tahoe for my Goddaughters wedding.

I have a lot of images and paintings to work through.

Here are a few.

First stop is to get all canvas boards and surfaces stamped in.
on my first evening I was tired and just tried to noodle a doodle.... I watched the sun set and played with my Gouache.  I did a black ink sketch onto some canvas.

On my second night I did this miniature. It is a 4"x 4" square. I think it turned out lovely and I see a larger painting coming from this idea.

100 Canvas Challenge Continued

Today I reworked an old Canvas... Revived it, and got out some frustration. I dealt with some PERSONAL things and found this very cathartic.
