Wooden Plaques are a simple art medium for children to work with. They take Acrylic paint very well. Here we place a background color of pinks and reds on a Valentine. Then we took valentine words and lovely phrases that are suitable for children....
Twinkle Joy, etc. and printed them on standard paper. Once cut and glued onto the board we put a skim coat of super pale pink, with shimmers, over the word and rubbed it away so as not to cover the words, but tint the paper... The result was soft and sparkley...
We used rub-on alphabets to put the initials of my artist, and her younger sister...
When the paint dries we will use hot glue to put a pretty lace ribbon to hang.
For older students, or classes that have more time to prepare and organize for this project, collect poetry, sheet music, and various other items such as tissue, lace, sequins and ribbon.... the possibilities are endless
